Humaid Alshamsi

Humaid Alshamsi concentrates his practice in aviation and space sectors. He specializes in advising government bodies and private entities alike in matters related to regulation; safety and security; government and airline liability; airport and spaceport management; consumer protection; anti-competition and advertising rules; air and space policy and governance; and space applications such as space mining, space tourism, space transportation, and military uses of space. He also provides advice on the formation of airlines, and legal requirements for licensing and registration of space objects for clients from start-up to mature operation.

 

Due to his previous roles as a Lawyer for the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), a Legal Counsel for Dubai Aviation City Corporation, and a member of the Commission of Experts of the Supervisory Authority of the International Registry (CESAIR) under ICAO, Humaid brings with him a rich experience in working with governmental and international entities specially in negotiation and drafting various policies, laws, and regulations related to aviation. During his term, Humaid was involved in a number of legislations in the UAE such as Civil Aviation Law, GCAA’s Establishment Law, and Advance Passenger Information Law, and other laws and regulations.

 

Humaid also provides his expertise in corporate governance; concession agreements for catering, ground handling, MROs, and advertising; and leasing agreements in airports or spaceports.

 

Humaid completed his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sharjah, UAE, and his LLM in Air and Space Law from McGill University.
